About The Position

The Medical Assistant III (MA III) is a senior experienced unlicensed healthcare professional who performs routine technical services within the medical practice settings under the supervision of the physician and the department’s leadership staff. The associate in this role functions in an independent manner within the scope of their duties. The associate in this role possesses knowledge and skills to function efficiently in back office and / or front office. Has a proficient understanding of clinic operations. Has responsibility and oversight over specific functions in the department at the direction of leadership staff. May handle complex procedures and assignments within the scope of their practice.

Requirements

  • Minimum four (4) years back-office MA experience with at least three (3) years in a pediatric setting.
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a vocational school having successfully completed requirements for MA.
  • Associate's degree or higher in related field, or an additional six (6) years of clinical medical assisting experience in lieu of this education, or Certification in Medical Assisting including Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA).
  • Knowledge and ability to provide appropriate patient care depending on age, cultural, and spiritual needs.
  • Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards.
  • Advance care through development of new ideas and technology.
  • Promote teamwork to achieve CHOC's mission, understanding, and exceeding patient and family expectations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills; excellent critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the safe and effective performance of the job.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
  • Able to recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in medical terminology.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
