Reports to: Practice Manager / Clinical Development Manager Rate of pay: $17.50/hour - $21.69/hour Work schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, weekdays; the day-to-day schedule may vary slightly based on the needs of the Health Center; no evenings, weekends, or major holidays. Please note that this position will support both Primary Care and Women's Health providers, with time shared between the Ogdensburg and Canton, NY, locations. Position Summary: The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting providers and the health center team in delivering accessible, high-quality, and patient-centered primary care. This position ensures smooth clinic operations and a positive patient experience by assisting with clinical procedures, documenting health information, preparing patients and exam rooms, and providing front-desk and care coordination support.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • One year of patient care experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with others.
  • Exhibits a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in dealing with issues.
  • Medium work; Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs., lift and support patients with and without help.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Regular exposure to infectious diseases, blood and airborne pathogens, needle sticks, hygiene issues, and other odors.
  • Able to tolerate clinical smells.
  • Ability to read digital readouts, recognize colors, and operate necessary medical equipment.
  • Ability to operate mechanical devices used by patients.
  • Ability to wear necessary hospital masks, gowns, gloves, and close-toed shoes.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing safe, patient-centered clinical support under the supervision of licensed providers.
  • Responsible for supporting care coordination and patient education to promote equitable access and positive health outcomes.
  • Responsible for administrative and front-desk support to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for contributing to a collaborative, mission-driven team environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or Health Center management.
