About The Position

We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our growing Lung and Sleep practice. This role is a hybrid front and back office position, ideal for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care. You will play a critical role in both the clinical and administrative sides of the practice—supporting providers, ensuring smooth patient flow, and creating a welcoming experience from check-in to checkout.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4+ years of Medical Assistant experience (pulmonary, sleep, or specialty care preferred)
  • Strong understanding of both front office workflows and clinical procedures
  • Experience with EMR systems (eClinicalWorks, Athena, or similar preferred)
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, referrals, and authorizations
  • Excellent communication and patient service skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a hybrid role

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients with professionalism and warmth, creating a positive first impression
  • Check patients in and out, verify demographics, and update insurance information
  • Answer and manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries
  • Collect copays, balances, and ensure accurate documentation in the EMR
  • Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-ups as needed
  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints
  • Prepare patients for exams, procedures, and diagnostic testing
  • Assist providers during patient visits and minor procedures
  • Perform basic clinical tasks such as injections, EKGs, pulse oximetry, and spectrometer (as trained)
  • Support sleep-related workflows including patient education on sleep studies, CPAP setup support, and follow-ups
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ensure exam rooms are stocked, clean, and compliant with clinical standards
