About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential need for Certified Medical Assistants at Navy Medical Centers in San Diego, CA . The Certified Medical Assistants will be performing Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist with care for U.S. Active Duty members, their dependents, and eligible retirees.

Requirements

  • Degree: Possess a high school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Education: Graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by one of the following: Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) of the American Medical Technologists or a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces or be a graduate from a medical assistant program approved for certification by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants or Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) or Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) or Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) or and Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College (ACCJC).
  • Alternative Education Requirement: In the basic contract and Exhibit 5, the HCW may be a graduate from a medical assistant training program accredited by any of the following: Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET). Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior College (ACCJC).
  • Experience: For MAs no prior working experience required. The MA can be a recent graduate from an approved training institution.
  • For MAs working in OB/GYN and or any other department within the Surgical Services Directorate, no prior working experience is required. The candidate can be a recent graduate from an approved training institution.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare examination rooms prior to patient's arrival.
  • Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers as directed.
  • Check patient's vital signs, to include temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading.
  • Obtain and document patient's current medical history, drug history, chief complaints, allergies and vital signs on the correct form.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures when ordered.
  • Maintain examination room stock levels and perform routine maintenance of examination rooms.
  • Complete lab and x-ray requisitions in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Enter demographic data into the computer upon patient check-in; enter diagnosis and departing time when patient is released.
