About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team at UAMS Family Medical Center in Fayetteville. This position is essential in supporting our clinic physicians by assisting in patient care and treatment. The MA will perform a variety of clinical and administrative tasks to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient experiences. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Basic Life Support certification
  • Must have a working knowledge of the use of computers and of electronic medical records.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care The MA collects/records patients’ medical history and acquires patient vital signs.
  • The MA advises patients regarding treatment, medication, and specific physician instructions.
  • The MA will collect lab samples and complete necessary documentation for submission to the lab.
  • Administrative duties The MA will manage the patient appointment schedule by balancing medical needs with patients’ timetable.
  • The MA will greet all patients/customers in professional and courteous manner upon arrival at clinic.
  • MAs register and check out patients, collect payments, issue receipts, and verify insurance coverage.
  • Customer Service Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary.
  • Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines.
  • Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
  • Other duties may be assigned to this position.
