Responsibilities

  • Verify patient information by interviewing patients, collecting medical histories, and documenting visit details
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain HIPAA compliance at all times
  • Accurately document patient demographics, histories, and clinical notes within the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Answer and manage incoming calls, relay messages, and support appointment scheduling and confirmations
  • Communicate laboratory results to patients and document appropriately
  • Maintain organized medical records and patient correspondence
  • Complete insurance documentation and coding tasks
  • Transmit prescription and refill requests as directed by providers
  • Obtain medication prior authorizations
  • Report applicable malignant diagnoses to required registries and prepare certified patient correspondence when needed
  • Notify management of clinical supply needs
  • Welcome patients and help create a calm, friendly clinical environment
  • Follow HIPAA and OSHA safety standards consistently
  • Collect and document chief complaints, medical histories, and provider evaluation notes
  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for clinical, surgical, and cosmetic procedures
  • Assist providers during exams and procedures
  • Administer medications as directed
  • Explain treatment steps and confirm all required consents are completed
  • Capture and document pre- and post-procedure photography
  • Collect, label, and prepare laboratory specimens
  • Provide medication and post-procedure care instructions
  • Remove sutures, change dressings, and support wound care
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments
  • Monitor medication and sample expiration dates
  • Disinfect and restock exam rooms
  • Serve as a compassionate patient liaison, helping patients feel informed and at ease
