We also work with campus and community partners to support your wider well-being and success in studies and life. www.du.edu/hcc Our Medical Services team includes physicians, nurses, psychologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical assistants and other health professionals staff the HCC. Nearly all students enrolled for academic credit (full-time or part-time, undergraduate or graduate) may use the HCC. The work environment is a busy out-patient office setting, which features a fast pace, frequent interruptions, daily contact with the public, and requires self-motivation. The workday involves balancing a variety of priorities and responding quickly to emerging problems. Office and patient care environments include: exposure to blood, body fluids and hazardous waste other than blood and body fluids; occasional exposure to toxins, and poisonous substances; occasional exposure to hazardous materials such as chemicals and liquid nitrogen; occasional exposure to dust, loud, unpleasant noises and combative situations; frequent exposure to communicable disease including COVID-19. Position Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) position is a full-time, fully benefited position. This role is responsible for five 8 hour shifts per week (Monday-Friday), with responsibilities including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy, immunizations, CLIA waived laboratory testing, assisting providers with procedures/ exams/ treatments, and various other duties as assigned. Most shifts are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional shifts from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. In addition to formal qualifications indicated below, the MA must be able to establish empathic connections with DU students while adhering to established DU and HCC policies and protocols. They should be familiar with and passionate about the medical needs of college students, ideally with experience working in a college health center. They should be comfortable operating a wide variety of medical equipment and office equipment. This position requires medical knowledge to perform duties under the direction of the providers. This position reports to the Associate Director of Medical Services, and the Medical Director.
