About The Position

Medical Assistant - Gynecologic Oncology The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is looking to add a Medical Assistant to our team in Eugene, Oregon. As part of the Gynecologic Oncology department, this MA will be instrumental in helping the team manage incoming calls and communications, assist with orders and prescription refills, and supporting the team with daily assigned tasks. Ideal for an MA looking to take their practice to the next level, this position will be part of a collaborative team of clinical professionals helping our patients navigate their various treatments. A strong foundation of Medical Assisting experience, especially with experience in prescription workflow SOPs, will find the most success in this role. This role will also support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $20.00-$34.03. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of experience
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with refill protocols in clinic or hospital setting strongly preferred
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants or NCMA certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists physicians with gynecological exams and procedures as requested.
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
  • Records patient data prior to each physician visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Processes, sends, and follows up on imaging, genetic testing, and misc. orders.
  • Attains insurance prior authorization for medication and consult referrals.
  • Performs chart prep for upcoming patient appointments.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepares and stocks exam/treatment rooms and orders supplies as needed.
  • Administers subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintains all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answers patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phones in prescriptions and makes other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Informs physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Performs other administrative duties, i.e. typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception, etc., as requested by supervisor.
