About The Position

At RestorixHealth, the mission is to restore health and improve the quality of life for patients with wounds. Medical Assistants are crucial to this mission, working under the supervision of a provider or registered nurse, specializing in the care of chronic or slowly healing wounds. This role involves assisting in the implementation of established treatment programs using wound dressing materials within the scope of practice. Medical Assistants also participate in patient education, demonstrating techniques for proper home care, maintaining daily records of treatments and progress, reporting to the physician or nurse, and assisting in minor surgical procedures. Additionally, they may serve as scribes for providers.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED certification
  • CNA or MA with active license/certification in appropriate state
  • Diploma or degree from a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program
  • BLS AHA certification
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English
  • Strong technical skills such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • One (1) year in healthcare setting required

Nice To Haves

  • State Certification preferred but not required (for Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program)

Responsibilities

  • Function within the state established "Scope of Practice" guidelines for a CNA/MA
  • Support the center’s ideology, mission, goals and objectives
  • Perform in accordance with the hospital/center’s policies and procedures
  • Follow the center’s standards for ethical business conduct
  • Recognize patients’ rights and responsibilities and support them in performance of job duties
  • Transcribe as directed when assigned to a provider
  • Thoroughly and accurately record all elements of patient visit, including but not limited to: wound assessment, lower extremity assessment and procedures
  • Appropriately apply basic medical terminology and techniques from training
  • Learn and abide by HIPAA guidelines
  • Participate in center committees, meetings, in-services and activities
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers
  • Participate in data collection activities to support performance improvement
  • Report observed or suspected safety violations, hazards and policy and procedure non-compliance to the safety coordinator or other designated person
  • Assist with supply and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability
  • Assist patients to the room observing policies, procedures and safety requirements and according to patient needs
  • Prepare room according to requirements of patient and procedure to be performed
  • Assemble and provide properly functioning equipment, supplies and instruments before start of procedure
  • Assist with the proper and safe positioning of the patient
  • Assist in the implementation of established treatment programs in the use of wound dressing materials within the scope of practice
  • Participate in patient education and demonstrate techniques to patients and caregivers enabling proper care at home
  • Maintain a daily record of treatments used and progress made, reports to the physician or nurse
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures
  • Assist as Scribe for providers where applicable
