About The Position

Medical Assistant I is an entry-level position responsible for providing basic patient care and back-office support under direct supervision. This role is designed for individuals with one year or less of Medical Assistant experience who are developing their clinical skills. As the Medical Assistant, I must be able to assist physicians and other providers with patient care, delivering services according to established standards and practices. Responsibilities include providing efficient, professional, and compassionate care to patients while performing all typical Medical Assistant duties. MAs may also perform some Front Desk duties as needed. The primary focus of the role is to ensure high-quality care for our members while demonstrating the organization’s core values, supporting providers, and contributing to a positive patient experience.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • Must pass internal back-office skill assessment
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire)
  • Bilingual: Spanish (Required) or Bilingual: Vietnamese (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year or less of Medical Assistant experience (externship accepted)
  • Basic understanding of Clinical procedures and medical terminology
  • Ability to follow instructions, ask questions, and seek clarification when needed
  • Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a compassionate approach

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with EMR systems is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Reports assigned are ready to perform job duties at the beginning of the shift, take breaks, and report back to work at the specified time in accordance with Families Together Orange County
  • Appearance exemplifies the professional image of Families Together Orange County through acceptable habits of dress, grooming, and hygiene
  • Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the reason for the visit
  • Prepares patients for examination by taking vitals, such as not limited to weight, height, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse ox
  • Secure patient information and maintain patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records and other patient information
  • Accurately records patient information, measurement data, procedure documentation, and test results in the electronic medical record, securing the workstation when finished
  • Ensure the highest quality of health services are delivered in both clinic and field settings by maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment
  • Follows clinic standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations
  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying exam rooms, stocking up with supplies, and assisting with placing orders
  • Stay educated on services and programs offered by Families Together; request training on new initiatives to maintain up-to-date knowledge
  • Demonstrate professionalism and foster collaboration with co-workers to enhance team productivity
  • Values and respects the concerns and feelings of others. Demonstrates care, compassion, and appreciation for the team
  • Identifies with the organizational goals, including customer service, fiscal responsibility, and understands their role within it
  • Proactively takes action without being prompted. Respond quickly to requests for assistance from the team and work well with others
