About The Position

As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the day for patients and the clinical team. This includes proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in the facility. The role involves managing multiple patients daily, depending on the number of physicians on-site. Success in this position requires enthusiasm to help others, efficiency, and empathy for patients. Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG) is the employed physician group of Dignity Health Arizona, comprising approximately 400 providers and 1200 support staff across various specialties. DHMG is also deeply involved in medical education, supporting 84 medical school students and around 200 residents and fellows in 25 academic programs. The group's mission aligns with Dignity Health's mission and St. Joseph's guiding principles, emphasizing innovative clinical care and excellence through scholarly activities. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program.
  • Candidates who completed a program prior to February 2, 2000 can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing evidence of direct supervision by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours to satisfy the education requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients required.
  • American Heart Association BLS

Responsibilities

  • Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol
  • Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested
  • Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies
  • Assists in patient/equipment preparation
  • Performs follow-up actions as directed
  • Completes hospital forms per protocol
