Providing accessible and affordable healthcare for all, today and every day. CHCA is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team at our Livingston clinic. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical facility with back office clinical support and front office administrative support, as needed. The regular work schedule will be Monday - Friday with rotational Saturday shifts. Primarily will work at this site and may be asked to go to nearby sites for training or staffing support. Requirements

  • Medical Assistant (MA) certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt to needs of the clinic
  • Willingness to travel to other site, when needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Medical Assistant experience preferred
  • Family practice and FQHC experience preferred
  • Bilingual fluency preferred

Responsibilities

  • Reception, answer phones and schedule appointments
  • Verify insurance eligibility and coordinate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
  • Assist patients with registration forms and maintain accurate files and medical records
  • Perform data entry related to patient billing, transcription, and insurance claims
  • Arrange for referrals
  • Process prescription requests
  • Track inventory and supplies
  • Follow legal and ethical standards in all tasks
  • Measure and record vital signs, patient interview, history and chief complaint
  • Provide patient education on medication, disease management, home treatment and special diets
  • Prepare patients for examination and perform routine screening tests and assist healthcare providers with exams
  • Phlebotomy and collection of other lab specimens, perform basic lab tests and EKGs, assist with x-rays and procedures
  • Prepare and administer medications with healthcare provider's authorization
  • Change dressing, apply bandages, remove sutures, perform CPR and other first aid procedures
  • Maintain supplies and equipment, stock and sterile instruments
