About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides administrative and clinical support to a medical clinic to ensure efficient patient care delivery and smooth daily operations. This role assists with patient communication, scheduling, medical record management, and coordination of care under the supervision of licensed clinical staff. The Medical Assistant plays a key role in maintaining excellent patient service and supporting the overall workflow of the clinic team.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting required.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR) systems (e.g., Epic, Athena, eClinicalWorks, or similar) strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in telehealth patient support is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound patient communication through phone calls, secure messaging, and telehealth platforms.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, follow-up visits, and diagnostic testing.
  • Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, allergies, and vital health information through the intake processes.
  • Assist with telehealth visits by preparing charts, verifying patient readiness, and supporting providers during consultations.
  • Review and update electronic medical records (EMR) accurately and in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Process prescription refill requests, prior authorizations, and patient referrals according to clinic protocols.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers, pharmacies, and external medical offices as needed for patient care continuity.
  • Provide patient education and instructions as directed by providers.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scanning, faxing, and uploading documents to the EMR.
  • Track lab results, imaging reports, and provider orders to ensure timely completion and follow-up.
  • Support billing and coding processes by ensuring accurate documentation of services rendered.
  • Assist with quality assurance initiatives, patient satisfaction surveys, and workflow improvement projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
