About The Position

At Southwoods Health, it's not just about the treatment, but how you're treated. #SWH Southwoods Health is hiring a part-time, three-day-per-week Medical Assistant for our Primary Care office in Austintown, Ohio. The Medical Assistant (MA) will join a dedicated team, partnering with a physician and/or other health care professionals to evaluate and provide direction to comprehensive, quality patient care. This role involves a wide range of skilled administrative and clinical duties crucial to the daily operations of our clinic.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program and obtained a diploma; OR maintains certification renewals from one of the following associations throughout the course of employment: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Responsibilities

  • Create a welcoming, friendly, and professional environment for patients and visitors through exceptional customer service.
  • Rooms patients in a timely manner utilizing two patient identifiers.
  • Obtain and record vital signs, major complaint, medications, and allergies in the patient chart.
  • Collect various specimens by following proper specimen collection, storing, and recording protocols.
  • Prepare lab specimens in a timely manner for transport to the hospital lab, maintaining positive specimen identification throughout processing.
  • Report and record patient critical lab values, adverse reactions, and pertinent information promptly to the physician and team members.
  • Able to schedule appointments, answer phones, file documents, maintain medical records, and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Recognize patients’ rights and responsibilities and support them in the performance of job duties.
  • Ensure all processes at the responsible physician practice maintain compliance with all regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
