We are looking for a Medical Assistant for our Outpatient Department! The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing high quality direct and indirect patient care within the Outpatient Department to assist all Medical Specialist providers in meeting our patients' needs. Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders: cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral. Facilitates medication refills and related paperwork for medications when needed. Assists in Injection clinic and Medication Assisted Treatment as directed by Medical Specialists. Participates in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Requirements

  • Current CMA license without restrictions
  • 3 years experience as a Medical Assistant
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Trauma Informed Care and Handle with Care training

Responsibilities

  • Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient's age
  • Flags and charts treatment plans daily for Outpatient Department.
  • Completes analysis for needed signatures
  • Facilitates medication refills timely including completion of paperwork, such as “Prior Authorizations” prepared for RN, APRN, physician review; interacts with pharmacy staff to ensure accuracy of timely refills for patients
  • Schedules Outpatient appointments as needed for patients.
  • Functions as a patient and family advocate at all times.
  • Assists patients with requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Completes vital signs and charting into the EHR for all patients being seen by practitioner.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Consults other departments and the treatment team as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.
