About The Position

This position would be split between our Oroville location and Yuba City Location. Tuesdays- Oroville, 7AM-6PM Wednesdays- Yuba City- 8AM-5PM Thursdays- Yuba City- 8AM-5PM Fridays- Oroville- 7AM-6PM Total- 36 hours a week/ Full Time. As a member of the health care team, the Medical Assistant operates under the supervision of the Floor RN or Nursing Director as it relates to administrative issues and under the Physician for clinical issues for the patients of FRTH within the scope of duties described in Title 16, California Administrative Code, Chapter 13, paragraph 1366. With specialized training and written approval, may perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to assigned area. Performs other related duties as needed with approval from Nursing Director. Participate in continuing education in order to provide the highest quality of care to the patient population. Identify victims of child and adult abuse, assault and domestic violence, and provides intervention, makes referrals as necessary, and reports to appropriate agency. Assist other staff members in development and maintenance of department goals, objectives, policies and procedures. Attend all trainings, meetings and conferences as required. Learn and implement electronic health records functions as they continue to evolve. Assist with a variety of duties to meet the needs of the department on an as needed basis. Other duties as assigned.

  • Graduation from approved program for Medical Assistants.
  • Current CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform any combination of duties under direction of physician to assist in the examination and treatment of patients including: escorting patients to exam room, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height and recording information in patient’s electronic record.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment by keeping exam rooms in order, safeguarding and cleaning equipment and maintaining supplies in proper order.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment using variety of methods (i.e., autoclave).
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory and ordering medical supplies and materials as directed.
  • Record all information in the patient electronic record and electronically sign all entries with full name and title.
  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary for the completion of duties and in situations that exceed abilities.
  • Complete duties and projects in a timely manner.
  • Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients.
  • Perform secretarial tasks, such as processing refill requests, obtaining medical records, and other duties as assigned by Providers or Supervisors.
  • Maintain EZIZ and annual competencies to keep up to date with new vaccine procedures.
  • Give injections (i.e., IZs or vaccines) or treatments and perform routine laboratory tests and operate equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests (Note injectables containing Lidocaine are not to be administered by Medical Assistants).
  • Perform additional and specialized tasks pertinent to assigned area with specialized training and written approval.
  • Perform other related duties as needed with approval from Nursing Director.
