About The Position

Sentara Medical Group is hiring a Medical Assistant. A $5,000 Sign-on Bonus is offered to eligible candidates. The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The Medical Assistant provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees. The role involves providing patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate). The Medical Assistant demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a few viewpoints, considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans, and evaluates outcomes. They also demonstrate the development of specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and the ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices. The position requires being productive and efficient in daily operations and utilizing appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible. Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Must have one of the following Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EMT (EMT-B, AEMT, or Paramedic)
  • BLS within 90 days of hire date
  • Less than a year of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations
  • Perform tasks and procedures as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Provide patient care tasks and procedures
  • Provide administrative duties (as appropriate)
