Job Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) supports the daily operations of the outpatient clinic by assisting providers with patient care, performing routine clinical and administrative duties, and ensuring an efficient and welcoming environment for patients. Working under the supervision of a licensed medical provider, the MA helps prepare patients for examinations, collects and documents medical information, performs basic clinical procedures, and assists with scheduling, records management, and other clinic operations while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program
• BLS Certification (preferred; must obtain within 90 days of hire)

Responsibilities

• Take and record vital signs
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
• Assist physicians and providers during examinations and treatments
• Administer medications and injections as directed by a licensed provider
• Perform EKGs and assist with minor office procedures
• Collect and process specimens, including blood draws
• Perform waived laboratory tests
• Document patient information and medical history accurately
• Recognize and respond appropriately to medical emergencies
• Maintain accurate patient medical records
• Register patients and update patient charts
• Schedule appointments and medical procedures
• Order lab tests and follow up on results
• Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations
• Manage clinic inventory and order supplies
• Assist with insurance forms and billing processes
