About The Position

This position provides general medical care to patients in an outpatient clinic setting, working under the direction of a licensed provider. The role is associated with a franchised business location, and specific job duties and benefits may vary between franchises. American Family Care (AFC) is a major primary and urgent care provider in the U.S., offering services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. Their state-of-the-art centers specialize in the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine. Each facility is equipped with an onsite lab and in-house x-ray capabilities. AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF).

Requirements

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice To Haves

  • AMT registered
  • AAMA Certified Medical Assistants are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam
  • Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients
  • Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Draw blood and preparation labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing
  • Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions
  • Respond to all lab messages and call back requests
  • Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations
  • Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure
  • Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis
  • Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
