About The Position

First Choice Health Centers is looking for a Medical Assistant to work alongside our Providers in a variety of specialties providing direct care services including patient engagement and care coordination within the communities of East Hartford. This position is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in delivery of patient care in an outpatient setting. Key responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. Why First Choice? We are committed to you! Primarily a Monday through Friday schedule working 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. There is one late night each week until 6 pm (scheduled by site) but the clinic closes at 3:00 pm on Friday. Medical Assistants also rotate for Saturday clinic which is 8 am to 2 pm in East Hartford (with a day off during the week). The hourly range for this position is $17.50 - $22/hour. Requirements

• Experience with an electronic health record
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program
• BLS Certification
• Candidates are required to pass a drug test, including marijuana, before beginning employment.
• Employees at First Choice Health Centers must be vaccinated against COVID-19. Certain exemptions may apply.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Medical Assistant is a plus
• Preferred 1 + years of MA experience

Responsibilities

• Act as a member of the care team, including preparing patients to be seen by collecting and recording clinical information as per process, responding to patient phone calls and documenting patient interactions
• Manage patients according to approved protocols and consistent with appointment and scheduling guidelines
• Document all patient interactions and other clinical activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record
• Schedule tests, treatments and follow up visits on behalf of patients, assist patients with identifying suitable outside resources and other services where appropriate
• Monitor task list (telephone encounters) in order to respond in a timely manner, follow up on overdue orders and monitor status of critical referrals
• Adhere to all patient safety standards and infection control guidelines
• Assist care team to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamwork.
