Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year of recent, hands on clinical experience as a Medical Assistant is required
  • Experience performing direct patient care, including vital signs, specimen collection, and clinical assisting
  • Spanish and English bilingual skills strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of and personal commitment to reproductive rights and the goals of Planned Parenthood
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and decision making skills
  • Comfortable discussing sexuality, contraception, sexually transmitted infections, and pregnancy options
  • Ability to function appropriately in sensitive situations
  • Experience with electronic health records and Microsoft Office preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in reproductive health or women’s health is helpful
  • Experience working directly with patients in a healthcare or clinical setting
  • Ability to learn ultrasound support, procedural assistance, AB lab responsibilities, and other skill enhancements at the discretion of the affiliate

Responsibilities

  • Conduct patient intake, including comprehensive medical and social histories
  • Perform STI screenings, point of care testing, and other clinical procedures
  • Provide non directive patient education on birth control options and pregnancy related services to support informed decision making
  • Prepare and sanitize exam rooms between patients in accordance with medical standards
  • Assist providers with procedures, lab work, and hands on clinical support
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation while upholding confidentiality and compliance standards
  • Deliver excellent patient service aligned with Planned Parenthood’s values of respect, equity, and inclusion
  • Support daily health center operations through cross functional collaboration and accountability
