About The Position

US Heart and Vascular needs a full time Medical Assistant Float to join our HeartPlace team in our Collin and Dallas County clinics. Responsibilities: Takes vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, weight, etc. Verifies and inputs patient medications into EMR. Making changes and additions as needed to the medication list. Responsible for EKG, rhythm strip, and signal average EKG hook-ups and printouts. (Proficiency Required) Assist physicians with patient exams as needed. Responsible for Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, event recorders and Loop recorders. (Proficiency Required) Ability to perform stress tests as needed and to assist in test interpretation. Takes pharmacy phone calls, reviews charts, and calls in prescription refills. Monitors pharmacy samples, removing from stock as expired. Receives and returns phone calls from patients and other external sources. Receives and returns portal messages in the EMR. Maintains current CPR and Medical Assistant certification. Performs other duties as required. May also be responsible for insurance precertification, prior authorization, procedure/surgery scheduling and coordinating transfers and admissions. Works onsite within the clinic during scheduled hours. Regular attendance is an essential part of this role. May be required to move between locations as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or Texas accredited GED.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification.
  • 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
  • Current BCLS certification.
  • Must have experience in administration of EKGs.
  • Prior recent cardiology experience in a clinical capacity is required.
  • Travel to multiple locations throughout the Tarrant County area is required
