About The Position

Medical Assistant - Part Time - Orthopedic Surgery - Carmel Valley This is a benefited, part time position (48 hours every 2 weeks) working 8-hr day shifts on weekdays only, 2-3 shifts per week. Start times are generally between 7-8am. Located at Scripps Clinic Carmel Valley & Rancho Bernardo, but may be required to float to other sites as needed. Why join Scripps Health? Requirements

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting
Previous experience in Podiatry

Responsibilities

Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
Collecting patient data in person and by phone
Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
Scheduling of appointments and procedures
Complete and accurate message taking
Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
Order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications
Setting up of cases in EPIC plus basic registration and updating of demographics
