About The Position

The Medical Assistant 2 serves as the initial point of contact for patient care, encompassing both administrative duties and direct patient care responsibilities. This role involves a variety of activities and moderately complex administrative, operational, and customer support assignments, typically performed on a semi-routine basis. Clinical duties include discussing symptoms, obtaining vital signs, administering medications and vaccines, performing phlebotomy, collecting specimens, conducting diagnostic screening tests, sterilizing and cleaning equipment, maintaining examination rooms, and accurately documenting information in the electronic medical records system. The Medical Assistant 2 collaborates closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers, delivering direct patient care in accordance with active certification. Decisions primarily involve interpreting area/department policy and determining methods for completing assignments. The position offers latitude in prioritizing and timing tasks, operating under minimal direction while adhering to standard policies and procedures that allow for some interpretation or independent discretion. This is a patient-facing role and requires participation in the company's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. CenterWell Senior Primary Care, a part of Humana, focuses on providing proactive, preventive, and personalized care to seniors, utilizing integrated care teams to address patients' physical, emotional, and social well-being.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CPR Certified
  • Required to be screened for TB (as this role is considered patient facing)

Nice To Haves

  • Certified or Registered – (Arizona, Indiana, & South Carolina candidates require Medical Assistant Certification or Registration)
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Medication/vaccine administration experience
  • 1+ years MA experience
  • Value Based Care experience including knowledge of HEDIS, CPT/ICD coding, and CAHPS/HOS Patient Experience.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish - must pass proficiency exam prior to foreign language communication

Responsibilities
