The Devereux Adolescent Integrated Care Clinic is a specialty outpatient clinic providing whole-person care to teens and young adults, ages 9 to 29, with physical, mental and emotional challenges. We know the transition to adulthood brings physical, hormonal and emotional changes. Through the integration of primary care and behavioral health practitioners with specialties in adolescent health, we meet adolescents’ unique healthcare needs at one location. Our goal is to guide each individual toward improved health, resilience and independence – so they can thrive during adolescence and beyond. Reporting to the Office Manager, the Medical Assistant provides direct, hands-on medical assistance to practitioners treating patients in an integrated health care setting. This position includes opening and closing the clinic, managing the front desk including greeting patients, collecting cash co-pays, prior authorizations, insurance verifications, and scheduling of patients with various providers when the front desk needs coverage. The Medical Assistant is responsible for properly "rooming" patients, collecting patient vital signs, and ensuring all exam/lab rooms and exam/lab equipment remain sanitary at all times. Medical Assistants accurately perform laboratory services such as injections, blood draws, urinalysis, stool samples, pap smears, eye exams, and auditory exams. Other job duties include collecting and maintaining accurate medical histories and medical records on all patients, assisting the physicians with entering information in the electronic medical record (EHR) including lab results, as well as calling in prescriptions, writing medical letters on behalf of physicians, and coordinating results of medical testing.
