About The Position

The Medical Assistant performs routine clinical and administrative duties to support Family Practice operations. This role works under the supervision of a physician or licensed nurse to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent (required)
  • Current CCMA, CMA, or RMA (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 60 days of hire
  • Strong critical thinking and sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, occasionally stressful environment
  • Professional, patient-centered demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and nurses with patient assessments, exams, and treatments
  • Perform basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection
  • Monitor patient condition and promptly communicate changes to clinical staff
  • Accurately document patient care, treatments, and clinical data in the medical record
  • Maintain medical equipment and exam rooms, including cleaning, stocking, reordering supplies, and basic troubleshooting
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned, including reception, scheduling, filing, data entry, and patient registration
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist with training or onboarding of new staff as needed
  • Support clinic workflow during high-volume periods or staff shortages
