About The Position

This is a benefited, full-time position that generally works Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m with no evenings or weekends required. The role requires floating to various specialties within the same location, with potential to float to another site as needed. This position is located at Scripps Clinic Jefferson in Oceanside. This float position primarily supports surgical specialties, including ENT, General Surgery, and Urology, and also supports a variety of medical specialties, including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology, and Rheumatology. Requirements

  • Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
  • BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience as an MA in an outpatient setting
  • Experience in outpatient ambulatory clinic
  • Experience as a float
  • EPIC or EMR experience

Responsibilities

  • Rooming patients, checking vitals, assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
