The Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) Triage Nursing Team is now hiring for an organized and adaptable Medical Assistant! This position will support clinics across the health system with patient outreach. Position Summary & Highlights: This MA role will be primarily contacting patients over the phone to assist with clinic outreach related to hypertension (HTN) and colorectal cancer (CRC) screenings, and other Trinity Health Measures. These are continuous initiatives critical to quality performance and patient outcomes. This position will work fully in-person at our Shared Services Building in Boise. Please see details below. Please make sure you meet the Minimum Requirements below before applying. CNA only work experience does not qualify applicants for the MA position. See Minimum Requirements below for details. The position requires self-management, critical thinking skills, ability to pull and review reports, ability to collaborate with providers, care team ,and Central Triage Nursing team, and willingness to be flexible day to day. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) American Medical Technologists (RMA) National Healthcareer Association (CCMA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA) National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA) American Medical Certification Association (CMAC) National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
  • Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year.
  • EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.

Nice To Haves

  • An ideal candidate will be proficient in EPIC and Excel, being able to pull reports and interpret the information.
  • Previous MA experience in a primary care/family practice clinic is preferred, but not required.
  • You enjoy a care team support role, troubleshooting, working in a team and independently, and are passionate about helping to provide the best care for our patients.

Responsibilities

  • Patients will be identified through the centralized triage nursing team and the MA will then have a telephone encounter with patients to discuss screenings and needed care.
  • Then the MA will collaborate with the primary care provider, clinic care team, and central triage nursing team on next steps.
  • This position may also assist with in-basket support for SAMG Primary Care, including medication prior authorizations, and other related orders.
  • On occasion, you may also work at clinics performing direct patient care to help fill in when needed.
