Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of healthcare work experience
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant certification program
  • Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent)
  • Experience in a community health center or primary care setting

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked clinical environment following all safety protocols
  • Conduct pre-visit planning and initiate screening protocols, identifying due tests and vaccines per UDS measures and CDC immunization guidelines
  • Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, recording visit reason and medical history, performing medication reconciliation, and verifying allergies and recent medical events
  • Perform blood draws, heel sticks, and waived laboratory tests with accuracy and attention to patient identification and order verification
  • Prepare and label laboratory specimens according to policy guidelines to ensure accuracy and traceability
  • Monitor patient flow throughout the clinic and communicate updates regarding delays and wait times to providers and patients
  • Support continuity of care by scheduling appointments, coordinating with the healthcare team, and facilitating patient and family communications
  • Assist with medication management, DME procurement, and referral coordination
  • Provide professional chaperone services for sensitive examinations and procedures
  • Gather and prepare instruments and materials needed for clinical procedures and assist providers as requested
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and equipment following standard precautions and autoclave protocols
  • Implement strict infection control practices including hand hygiene, proper PPE use, biohazard waste disposal, and safe injection techniques
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
  • Assist with patient translation services and communications as needed
