About The Position

Southwest Asthma and Allergy is part of growing practice known as Allergy & ENT Associates, with locations in Houston, Austin, Dallas, & California! Currently, we are looking for Medical Assistants to become a part of our work family in the Denison! Location: In the Texoma Medical Plaza adjacent to the new Texoma Medical Center 5012 South US HWY 75 - Suite 150 Denison, TX 75020 Hours: Mon. 8:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Tue. 8:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Wed. 8:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Thu. 8:00 a.m. - 1 p.m. 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. Fri. 8:00 a.m. - 3 p.m. Benefits: Health, Dental, & Vision Insurance Basic Term Life & Accidental Death & Disability 401K PTO/Sick/Holiday pay Bonus and evaluation increases Position Summary: To provide quality patient care services to the patients of Southwest Allergy & Asthma Center under the direction of physicians/providers and the nursing staff. Supports the goals and the objectives of the Company.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent or
  • Graduate of an accredited School for Nursing, Medical Assistant program or comparable experience.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical procedures, and current nursing practices.
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Professional, calm and courteous demeanor
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Electronic Medical/Health Record System experience
  • Safety and Confidentiality - Follows OSHA regulations and the safety guidelines of the Practice. Follows HIPAA policies and procedures. Respects and maintains patient confidentiality. Use CPR skills when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care as a member of the health care team within scope of license.
  • Follows nursing policies, procedures, and protocols and implements appropriately in the care of adult and pediatric patients.
  • Provides instructions to patients regarding treatment plan, medications and follow-up.
  • Communicates effectively with other members of the health care team including accurate documentation in patient medical records.
  • Greets patients with a smile, completion of registration forms, and gives instructions
  • Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
  • Follows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct
  • Performs specific Job Activities as assigned per office location.
  • Continues professional self-development
  • Measures and records vital signs
  • Interview patients while recording and updating medical information (history, chief complaint) and medications etc. into the EHR
  • Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests
  • Provides patient education with regards to medications and instructions set forth by the provider to manage their health
  • Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization
  • Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and prepares exam room for patient
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments
  • Check and responds to patient phone calls (communicating w/the provider on course of action and relaying to the patient)
  • Review and prepare requests and prior authorizations for medications
  • Scribing and assisting with procedures
  • Performs routine allergy skin testing per protocols and documents results.
  • Full shot office responsibility
  • Educates testing patients regarding environmental controls, treatment plans, and medications
  • Familiar with signs and symptoms of allergy testing systemic reactions. Familiar with emergency equipment and protocols for treatment.
  • Seeks immediate assistance from RN/LVN staff in dealing with emergency treatme nt for allergy testing patients
  • Triages emergency situations and use CPR skills when necessary
  • Refill requests and Prior Authorizations for medications
  • Attendance is required for all In-Service trainings
  • Travel to other offices will be required.
