About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) will be responsible for the coordination of direct patient care activities and providing clinical support to providers within one of Baptist Health's clinical practices, specifically BHMG Urgent Care Ring Rd. This full-time role involves checking in patients, obtaining vital signs, performing medication reconciliation, and gathering patient medical history information. The MA will navigate the electronic health record system (EPIC) and communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians, while upholding Baptist’s mission and core values that drive service excellence. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required, including direct, hands-on patient care in a clinical setting, such as obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, and performing clinical procedures (e.g. EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
  • OR Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, that includes hands on patient experience as part of the curriculum
  • Upon hire, all Medical Assistants will undergo a clinical competency assessment and must successfully complete MA orientation. Those who do not meet the required standards will be enrolled in the Medical Assistant Trainee Program for further development and evaluation.
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMR System
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
  • OR graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
