At American Family Care, Medical Assistants are crucial to clinic operations, blending clinical skills, patient service, and administrative expertise. This role involves front-desk duties, insurance verification, and direct patient care. Responsibilities include triaging patients, collecting vitals and histories, performing various point-of-care tests (COVID, flu, strep, glucose, A1C, UA), assisting with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy. Additionally, Medical Assistants register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payment logs, and maintain accurate Electronic Medical Records (EMR). They are also responsible for educating patients on clinical procedures and financial expectations, providing discharge instructions, and de-escalating concerns professionally. The position requires participation in daily huddles, maintaining compliance logs, and upholding infection control and HIPAA standards.
