The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the patient care team directed towards the prevention of disease and promotion of health using professional clinical support for quality patient care. This position works as part of a care delivery team and works closely with physicians and mid-level providers and other team members to help ensure the delivery of high quality patient care.

Requirements

  • Education: Requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
  • OR Certification: Certification through a nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification program, such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or CCMA . Candidates hired will be expected to become certified after hire. Uncertified Medical Assistants will start 3% below the beginning wage listed. If you do not have the certification you must have a diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • Other : CPR certification is required (valid CPR certification must be provided upon hire)
  • Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Patient follow-up (i.e.: after visit instructions, setting appointments, patient education, communicate normal lab results and reminder phone calls)
  • Support back office clinic flow and time management for providers.
  • Prepare patients for exams and procedures.
  • Review immunizations, forecast and administer immunizations for clients of all ages.
  • Perform medical treatments such as simple would care, ear irrigations, suture removal and fluoride treatments.
  • Ensure the exam room is stocked, cleaned and ready for use.
  • Provide back-up lab duties including phlebotomy and processing labs.
  • Complete assigned Quality Control/Assurance activities
  • Provide back-up to the preventative MA.
