Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
  • Solid knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and clinical practices.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care and Support:
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, prepare them for examinations, and assist healthcare providers during procedures.
  • Measure vital signs, record medical history, and update patient information accurately in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Perform basic medical procedures, including phlebotomy, administering injections, and collecting laboratory specimens.
  • Provide patient education on healthcare procedures, medication instructions, and preventive care as directed by provider.
  • Clinic Operations and Support:
  • Schedule appointments, manage patient flow, and maintain efficient clinic operations.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and stocking of exam rooms and medical supplies.
  • Assist with medical equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to facilitate referrals to specialists and community resources.
  • Documentation and Recordkeeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting all interactions, procedures, and interventions.
  • Adhere to patient privacy and confidentiality guidelines, ensuring the security of protected health information (PHI).
  • Assist with coding and billing processes, verifying insurance information, and collecting co-payments.
  • Communication and Teamwork:
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team, providing clear instructions and compassionate support.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and seamless patient care.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
