The Medical Assistant plays an essential role in supporting our physicians and clinic operations by performing both administrative and clinical tasks. Responsibilities range from scheduling appointments and managing patient records to taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, and performing blood draws-all while ensuring patients receive safe, efficient, and high-quality care.

  • Schedule appointments and maintain accurate patient records in the EMR (Athena).
  • Answer phones and process documentation according to HIPAA standards.
  • Manage billing, coding, and insurance documentation.
  • Greet and prepare patients for examinations.
  • Take and record vital signs, patient histories, height, weight, and other intake details.
  • Perform blood draws, injections, EKGs, and routine laboratory tests.
  • Assist in minor surgical procedures and operate diagnostic equipment under physician supervision.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments, monitor inventory, and order supplies as needed.
  • Deliver excellent patient service by demonstrating the Qssentials Standards of Excellence : Safety, Attitude, Responsiveness, Privacy, and Communication.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to ensure smooth clinical operations.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to patient and family concerns.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with regulatory standards.
  • Participate in ongoing education, skills training, and performance evaluations.
  • Travel to other Vista Health sites or provide on-call support, as needed.
  • Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required; BLS certification required.
  • Previous experience as a medical assistant preferred; new graduates welcome.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide care to patients of all ages.
  • Experience assisting with minor surgical procedures preferred.
