About The Position

Pediatrics Northwest is looking for a Medical Assistant to join our Allergy & Asthma team! Our Allergy & Asthma Medical Assistants (Specialty MAs) maintain the workflow of patient care, gathering patient information for the provider, and under the direction of a licensed physician, advanced registered nurse practitioner, or at the direction and under the supervision of a registered nurse, administers drugs, medications, treatments, tests, injections, and inoculations. The Specialty MA functions in an interdependent role to deliver care as directed and has extensive contact with physicians, ARNPs, RNs, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, support staff, and management. In addition to Medical Assisting general functions, this position will also give allergy injections and perform allergy and pulmonary function testing . Schedule: 4 Days / Week – 7:30 AM - 6:00 PM. No weekends, no nights, and closed for major holidays. Pay: $28.40-$42.28/hour. Salary commensurate with experience. Location: Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Federal Way, and Covington. Must be willing to travel to all clinics.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program with externship completed in a pediatric setting (preferred); basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology; skills in grammar and spelling.
  • Certified Medical Assistant license as set forth by the State of Washington, Dept of Health
  • Current Health Care Provider level CPR certification.
  • Must be willing to travel to all clinics.
  • Candidate required to pass background check and drug screen.
  • Pediatrics Northwest is adhering to Washington State Laws regarding Health Care Professionals and the COVID-19 vaccine and employees must be vaccinated.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 2 years Medical Assistant experience in an office setting, preferred.
  • externship completed in a pediatric setting (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Work with Providers or float in the clinic providing clinic support.
  • Perform screenings and prepare patients for examination by provider.
  • Room patients; obtain and document vital signs; enter clinical documentation in EPIC; administer immunizations, allergy shots, and medications; process prescriptions; and support clinic operations by assisting with phone calls.
  • Perform routine laboratory and diagnostic testing such as peak flow and spirometry.
