About The Position

The Medical Assistant is responsible for gathering and documenting patient screening data, obtaining vitals, preparing charts, drawing labs, maintaining their area, assisting providers, and other various activities needed to ensure patient care is prioritized. This role provides patients with safe, quality care throughout their treatment and disease process under the direction of the Provider or the oversight of a direct supervisor.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited medical assistant program with certification.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills.
  • Knowledge of medical laboratory procedures.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time, with occasional walking.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to travel to satellite clinics when necessary.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrates exceptional assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrate machines.
  • Check exam rooms.
  • Temperature Log.
  • Perform quality controls.
  • Dispense injections.
  • Process labs and send them out.
  • Check MA inbox, task inbox, TEAMs, and email.
  • Restock and clean the lab area.
  • Assess medications and supply inventory.
  • Assist with bone marrow biopsies, perform injections, and blood draws.
  • Scan documents.
  • Prep charts (done the day before).
  • Update IOD spreadsheets.
  • Room patients and update: Vital Signs (daily), Medication Reconciliation (daily), Allergies (daily), Pain Scale (daily), Tobacco Screening (dated current year), and Depression Screening (dated current year)
  • Perform double-checks for other team members to ensure medication accuracy.
  • Communicate with nurses regarding patients ready for infusion.
  • Document in MAR appropriately and concurrently with medication administration.
  • Daily Clean exam rooms in between patients and clean and restock exam rooms at end of day.
  • Log out of all systems before the end of day.
  • Clean Piccolo machine filter.
  • Check Cell-dyne reagents.
  • Order supplies, B&B injection, and inventory, and relay to team lead if supplies are needed.
  • Check the genetic kit testing supplies.
  • Check sharp container fill levels.
  • Check bone marrow biopsy supplies.
  • Calibrate machines, reconcile temperature logs and perform monthly quality checks.
  • Perform Piccolo controls.
  • Update and check Cell-dyne binder.
  • Follow-up with submitted genetic tests.
  • Deep clean.
  • Check if MLE is due, reagent supplies check.
  • Full Cell-dyne re-calibration
  • Complete training(s) on time, as assigned
