Job Summary The Medical Assistant (MA) is a vital member of the healthcare team responsible for providing clinical and administrative support in a medical setting. The MA works under the direction of licensed healthcare providers to ensure efficient and effective patient care and smooth office operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • Medical Assistant Experience: At least 1 year
  • Vital Signs Experience: At least 1 year
  • EMR Systems Experience: At least 1 year
  • High school diploma
  • Medical Assisting diploma depending on state requirements
  • Oral communication- Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens to others without interrupting and gets clarification when needed; responds well to questions
  • Written communication- Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar
  • Teamwork- Willing to assist others when needed
  • Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status and position.
  • Problem-Solving- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; develops alternative solutions, maintains composure and a professional manner even when dealing with difficult situations
  • Commitment to Company Standards: Follows company procedures: demonstrates ethical behavior in all business dealings

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination (vital signs, weight, medical history)
  • Assist with examinations, procedures and minor surgeries
  • Administer medications and immunizations as directed
  • Perform basic laboratory tests and phlebotomy
  • Collect and prepare specimens for lab testing
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments
  • Maintain examination rooms, supplies, and equipment
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage calendars
  • Answer phones, respond to inquiries and direct calls
  • Greet and check-in patients; verify insurance and demographic information
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR system
  • Handle billing and coding for insurance claims (if applicable)
