In this position, the Medical Assistant supports physicians, nurses, and clinical staff with patient care, clinic operations, and laboratory services. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the applicable state
  • One year of experience in a physician office or clinical setting preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and current auto insurance
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm in crisis situations and adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following safeguarding protocols
  • Basic math, problem-solving, and computer skills, including use of electronic health records

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy training preferred
  • CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians and nursing staff with patient care, examinations, and treatments
  • Prepare patients by collecting medical histories, verifying information, and obtaining vital signs
  • Administer injections and perform lab testing and phlebotomy services
  • Prepare and maintain exam, treatment, and lab rooms with appropriate supplies and equipment
  • Support clinic operations including scheduling appointments, managing charts, and coordinating prior authorizations
  • Communicate with doctors, pharmacies, laboratories, and medical specialists to support continuity of care
  • Accompany individuals to medical appointments and advocate for their rights and needs
  • Coordinate with nursing staff on hospital visits, discharge planning, and follow-up care
  • Conduct health and medical reviews as directed by leadership
  • Maintain durable medical equipment and complete quarterly checks
  • Track client appointments, send reminders, and communicate health concerns to the care team
  • Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with company policies
  • Maintain clinic areas through light housekeeping, inventory management, and supply restocking
  • Monitor lab refrigerator temperature logs and manage clinic injection calendars
  • Participate in required meetings and perform other duties as assigned
