About The Position

The Medical Assistant provides direct patient care and clinical support within an outpatient clinic. Key responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, reconciling medications, collecting patient history, and facilitating patient flow. The role also involves managing the electronic health record (EPIC), scheduling appointments, processing medication requests, handling prior authorizations, and coordinating tests and procedures. Upon successful completion of clinical competency, the Medical Assistant may also perform EKGs, lab tests, injections, and/or phlebotomy. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for efficient patient care and provider support. This is a full-time, first-shift position located in LaGrange, Kentucky, requiring regular on-site presence. New hires meeting eligibility criteria are eligible for a $2000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
  • 1+ year(s) of experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical office, clinic or similar setting required, including direct, hands-on patient care (obtaining vital signs, documenting patient history and medications, performing clinical procedures like EKG’s, phlebotomy, administering injections or vaccines)
  • OR Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on patient experience as part of the curriculum
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • BAT and DOT certifications required for Medical Assistants in Occupational Medicine within 90 days of hire
  • Successfully complete MA orientation and clinical competency assessment upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • Current Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, or AAMP
  • OR graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current unrestricted licensure
  • Experience with EMR System
