Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
  • At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
  • EMR proficiency; comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar).
  • Proven venipuncture and specimen collection skills.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check as a condition of employment.
  • Full availability including ability to work evenings/weekends and float to nearby centers as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Urgent care or emergency room experience highly valued.
  • Experity EMR proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, perform venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing (COVID, flu, strep, glucose, A1C, UA, etc.), assist with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy.
  • Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payment logs, and maintain EMR accuracy.
  • Educate patients on both clinical procedures and financial expectations, provide clear discharge instructions, and de-escalate concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Participate in daily huddles, maintain compliance logs (crash cart, fridge temps, etc.), support infection-control and HIPAA standards.
