About The Position

Dermatology Medical Assistant to the Specialty Clinic, which may include cross-training to be able to cover other specialties in this clinic: General Surgery, Women's Health, Urology, ENT departments. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills required.
  • Maintenance of current CPR or BLS.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Previous medical practice, clinic or hospital experience preferred.
  • Experience with computers, fax/copy machines, telephone etiquette, paging systems, medical and non-medical software and database systems preferred.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
  • GVH is willing to train an un-certified candidate towards certification.

Responsibilities

  • Triage phone calls, follow-up on phone calls
  • Track operative reports, lab and pathology reports and call patients with results
  • Place patients in room after taking vitals and health history
  • Enter information into EMR
  • Assist surgeons with minor procedures in office
  • Clean, turn over exam rooms
  • Authorizing prescriptions, procedures, radiology
  • Meticulous follow-up with patients regarding lab/radiology/pathology test results
  • Oversight of supplies, equipment
  • Adhere to all GVH safety standards, policies and protocols
  • Oversee patient wait times, ensure clinic runs efficiently
  • Track operative reports, lab results, pathology
  • Instrument sterilization oversight
  • Specimen handling, processing and paperwork
  • Check-in, check-out, surgery scheduling and coordination help if needed
  • Positive attitude, open to change, willing to work in a team setting, respectful
