The Medical Assistant assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. This role involves interviewing patients, obtaining vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and accurately recording this information on patients' charts. The Medical Assistant may also be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens or swabs for laboratory analysis. Key responsibilities include coordinating patient flow, scheduling appointments, procedures, tests, and referrals. The position may also involve triaging phone calls, calling in non-narcotic prescriptions as directed by the provider, and frequent communication with patients and their families. Additionally, the Medical Assistant assists with the clinic's regulatory and compliance needs and works under the close supervision of the physician and clinic manager.
