About The Position

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Flexibility with start times preferred as operations run as early as 7am. Located at both Mission Valley and Liberty Station clinics, floating between the two, mainly for Dermatology but also other specialties. May travel to other sites as needed. Why join Scripps Health? Requirements

Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
BLS required in clinical setting for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Nice To Haves

One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Rooming patients
Checking vitals
Assisting with procedures
Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
Organizes and performs patient care services that support the provider's practice
Relaying instructions from the provider to the patient or authorized person
Collecting patient data in person and by phone
Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
Administering medications specifically directed by the provider
Scheduling of appointments and procedures
Complete and accurate message taking
Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
Order and referral entry
Acquisition of pre-certifications
Setting up of cases in EPIC
Basic registration and updating of demographics
Other duties assigned as needed
