About The Position

The Medical Assistant is responsible for: Providing administrative assistance to nursing and medical staff Assisting nursing and medical staff by maintaining documentation Greeting clients in a professional, friendly manner Performing various administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing and/or nursing staff Obtaining and records vital signs for new admissions and as needed by unit nursing and medical history for new admissions Pulling charts from all units when the physician is on-site for signatures and returning to appropriate departments when completed Making copies of necessary medical documentation during admissions process and filing in charts Correspondence with pharmacy and coordinating medication transfers as needed Coordinating with outside providers for medication requests, appointment requests, obtaining PHI Recognizing and responding appropriately to urgent/emergency situations following protocols Stocking of all nursing stations including medications, medical supplies, and medical paperwork Completing routine medical supply inventory and submitting to DON

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Graduate from an accredited medical assisting program
  • Medical Assistant Certification (CMA)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Minimum three years computer experience and familiarity with Windows 2000, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word is required

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a behavioral healthcare setting is preferred
