About The Position

Presbyterian is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to provide direct patient care in an Outpatient Clinic. This role involves preparing patients for visits, maintaining efficient patient flow, assisting providers with treatments and procedures, administering medications, and supporting clerical functions such as scheduling, referrals, authorization, and managing electronic medical records. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Six months of MA experience or successful completion of a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant program from an accredited school required
  • Successful completion of Presbyterian MA Advanced Skills Training within 90 days of hire
  • BLS (AHA, Red Cross or ASHI Healthcare Provider) required
  • Maintains current certifications in required emergency response training (i.e. BLS)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing medical assistant procedures after completion of competency within organizations MA scope of work, under the supervision of a provider and PHS policy.
  • Prepares patient for rooming and exam
  • Prepares and administers medications and immunizations
  • Suture/Staple removal and dressing changes
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
  • Provides basic education to patients
  • Sets up aseptic and sterile procedures
  • Performs other duties as required
