About The Position

The Medical Assistant supports medical providers and nursing staff in delivering safe, efficient, and compliant healthcare services to clients. This role assists with basic clinical duties, documentation, vital signs, and coordination of care to ensure clients receive timely and appropriate services in accordance with Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS), Joint Commission standards, and organizational policies. Medical Assistants help maintain accurate medical records, assist with patient flow, and support providers in delivering quality care within ARC’s detox, residential, and outpatient treatment programs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in related field preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Experience working with electronic health records (EHR)
  • CPR/FA Certification – to be obtained within first 30 days
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card – have current card or show proof of applying within 7 days from hire date
  • Handle with Care – to be obtained within first 30 days
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment criminal/county/state background check
  • Successful clearance of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Successful clearance of TB PPD testing upon hire and annual screening of TB symptoms
  • Attending clinical oversight with BHP once every 2 weeks worked for a minimum of 2 sessions per month.

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support Obtain and document vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration, oxygen saturation, height, and weight.
  • Assist providers and nursing staff with medical appointments, exams, and procedures as directed.
  • Prepare exam rooms and ensure necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist with specimen collection and preparation as directed.
  • Perform basic clinical tasks within the scope of Medical Assistant training and applicable regulations.
  • Patient Care Coordination Escort clients to and from medical appointments within the facility.
  • Assist in coordinating care between medical providers, nursing staff, and clinical teams.
  • Monitor and report client concerns, symptoms, or changes in condition to appropriate medical staff.
  • Documentation & Compliance Accurately document client interactions and clinical information in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Ensure documentation meets organizational, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Administrative Support Assist with scheduling medical appointments and follow-ups.
  • Maintain medical supply inventory and notify leadership when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Support compliance with infection control and safety protocols.
