About The Position
Mountain View Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join their team at Upper Valley Family Medicine in Rigby, ID. This temporary position involves assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Key responsibilities include appointment scheduling, chart management, providing patient information, collecting and processing routine tests, obtaining and entering doctor's orders, and ensuring excellent customer service. The MA will also perform CLIA waived moderate testing. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent GED.
- Current BLS Certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Phlebotomy course and phlebotomy experience.
- Experience with computers and office equipment.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
- Must understand medical terminology.
- General Math skills.
Nice To Haves
- CMA course preferred

Responsibilities
- Fulfill patient care responsibilities including checking schedules, organizing patient flow, accompanying patients to exam/procedure rooms, assisting with walking and transfers, collecting specimens, preparing for exams, collecting patient history, performing screenings, assisting physicians with procedures, charting, relaying instructions, and answering calls.
- Proficiently collect correct blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.
- Follow hospital policies and procedures for transporting and delivering samples to the laboratory.
- Handle laboratory supplies and stock supplies.
- Ensure patients receive appropriate, competent, and quality clinical care that meets expectations.
- Adhere to all policy and procedures.
- Provide age-appropriate care.
- Report, monitor, and manage patient and staff incidents.
- Monitor and manage patient and physician satisfaction results.
- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
- Perform sterile technique.
- Perform clerical responsibilities including sending/receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, completing forms/requisitions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage and patient demographics, and managing charts.
- Perform facility responsibilities including setting up instruments and equipment, and cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
- Perform special tests such as clotting times, bleeding times, and glucose tolerance tests and report results to other lab personnel.
- Maintain Point of Care documents and perform Quality Control management.
- Provide good customer service on the phone and in person to anyone entering the facility.
- Perform miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations or other duties as deemed necessary.
- Complete CCM Roster on a monthly basis.
- Stay current on CCM changes and requirements from CMS.
- Act as a liaison between providers and patients when coordinating community resources, access to specialty services, and follow-up healthcare.
- Follow-up and help complete identified referrals.
- Coordinate with specialists and help to integrate recommendations from providers.
- Identify barriers for lack of follow through or potential barriers to community resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
