Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) from an accredited program
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or equivalent
  • Minimum 1–2 years of clinical medical assistant experience in a physician office, outpatient clinic, or specialty practice

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual--Spanish or Polish Preferred
  • Experience in vascular surgery, cardiology, interventional radiology, or surgical specialties (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical history, medication reconciliation, and chief complaint documentation in the EMR.
  • Prepare patients for physician evaluation, including positioning, gowning, and preparing exam or procedure rooms.
  • Assist the vascular surgeon and advanced practice providers during patient examinations and minor in-office procedures.
  • Provide wound care support, including dressing changes, wound measurements, sterile dressing application, and documentation of wound progress.
  • Assist with evaluation and care of vascular wounds, ulcers, and post-procedural incision sites following established clinical protocols.
  • Prepare and maintain sterile instruments, procedure trays, and supplies for vascular procedures.
  • Assist with procedural preparation, including patient prep, sterile field setup, and equipment readiness.
  • Provide chairside assistance during vascular procedures, including passing instruments, monitoring patient comfort, and supporting the clinical team.
  • Perform or assist with diagnostic testing such as ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index), EKGs, Doppler assessments, or other vascular diagnostic procedures as directed.
  • Ensure proper infection control and sterilization procedures are followed for all clinical areas and instruments.
  • Educate patients on pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure care, including wound care instructions and activity restrictions.
  • Coordinate with providers and clinical staff to maintain efficient patient flow and clinic operations.
  • Assist with documentation, orders, and follow-up care coordination in the electronic medical record system.
  • Monitor exam and procedure rooms to ensure adequate inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Communicate with patients regarding appointments, follow-up visits, test results, and care instructions under provider supervision.
