About The Position

The Medical Assistant is a supportive position to the Practice, providing administrative and supportive services to the Providers, staff, and patients. This position reports to the MA Supervisor. This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines. The role has a high risk of occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens. This is a full-time position, working 4 days per week from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • Must have at least a high school education.
  • Must have successfully completed a Medical Assistant program or successfully completed a Certified Nursing Assistant program or one year of equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Call patients from waiting room and verify patient information before escorting to the exam room.
  • Conduct vitals, check urine specimen if needed, take out cultures and label when possible.
  • Label PAP bottles with patient name and date of birth.
  • Log information into computer.
  • Log PAP on PAP log.
  • Room set up according to Provider preference.
  • Clean exam rooms.
  • Explain procedures to patients (colposcopy, Endo Biopsy, Breast Biopsy, Vulvar Biopsy, etc.) and set up room.
  • Assist Physicians with procedures.
  • Provide patient samples and answer any questions if asked or direct questions back to Physician/Provider.
  • Walk patient to appropriate place for labs, sono, mammogram or bone density testing.
  • Assist with laundry on a daily basis.
  • Ensure rooms are OSHA clean and up to standards every month.
  • Stock rooms on a daily basis.
  • Scrub instruments/autoclave cleaning on a daily basis per scheduled assignment.
  • Clean Rx cabinets to check for outdated samples.
  • Put away clinical supplies received.
  • Keep track of inventory to advise clinical supervisor when items need reordered.
  • Consistently demonstrates internal and external quality customer service standards to all that request assistance, responding in a professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
